Last night after making a quick trip to the Tillamook Creamery, we drover the short distance across town to HH at Blue Heron French Cheese Co. We didn’t get to enjoy their deli, candy or ice cream shop as they closed pretty early. I did make a purchase in support though by buying some cheese and a couple of fun stickers. The parking area for HH’s was a giant grassy field. There were quite a few others there joining us at this spot.
Our good friends Mary and Dave arrived after us. After giving and receiving some great hugs we all set out to get our campers leveled and food in our bellies.
Phillip and I took Penny and Poppy on a walk around the property and came upon a little farm animal viewing area. There were donkeys, geese, a peacock, goats, sheep, alpaca and chickens. The geese were honking loudly at the dogs as we were walking by, Poppy was very curious about all of these new creatures!
Also along our walk we found a giant fire pit hooked up to propane surrounded by a bunch of red Adirondack chairs. Away from the fire pit was a big button on a post that made it super easy to turn it off and on. Although we didn’t sit and enjoy it, we took the idea to save for later.
We slept very well and are now heading to Forks, OR. We booked sites at 3 River Resort, the second time Phillip and I have stayed there. It is the famous spot where the Twilight trilogy took place and is based on. There is silly Twilight references everywhere including a big sign that says “Treaty Line! No Vampires Beyond This Point!” Right outside of the campground.

After some campsite switching around, Ron, Jon, Phillip and I created a big fenced in area for all of our dogs. They were able to hang out and run around as much as they want to!
We are surrounded by tall sitka spruces, some of them with trunks that look like dinosaur feet planted on the ground. Moss, ferns, and false lily of the valley carpet the ground around us.
Yesterday we went shipping in town and ate an early dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. After everyone took a nap we gathered again to play “shithead” and a couple of other games that Jon brought. For those of you interested. “Shithead” the card game is very fun and has a few other names that are not swears! Here is a link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shithead_(card_game)

Today Ron, Jon and I went into Olympic National Park. We first drove to the HOH Visitors center before walking a couple of the trails nearby to admire the ferns, moss, stream and giant sitka spruces. Once again we say the nurse logs with all stages of new trees growing from them. We were also lucky enough to see <Elk???> munching on some ferns along our walk.

At about 12:30 today we all headed up to Port Angeles at the top of Washington. We ate at the Warf Downriggers Restaurant. Afterwards walking around and to a yarn store for some larger gauge yarn for Mary as I was teaching her crochet and the yarn id purchased before was a little small for a beginner. We walked around a little bit and Ron and I went into an adorable store to buy a couple of trinkets.
Back in Forks before heading back to camp, we stopped at a local tavern called Westend Taproom had some drinks and played another round of Shithead. Then we heading back to camp for more drinks and games.

Today we did a bunch of packing to prepare for our departure from Forks tomorrow. The 6 of us took the dogs to La Push and let them run around a big field near the ocean. Mary and Dave then met up with us and we went to a restaurant there that seemed to be pretty popular. The food wasn’t very good unfortunately but our server was very nice and the view was lovely. The only thing we liked was the brussels sprouts. They mixed them with sautéed apples, craisins, pepitas, and gorgonzola cheese.
Tonight we are all laying low and resting up before our journey tomorrow.

Before taking off, Phillip wanted to see Bella Swans house, which is something we did not do last time we were in Forks. Nothing special, just a house, can’t say I remember it from the movie!
